The big day

Everyone knows that 3 of the most stressful life events are getting a new job, having a baby and moving.  Being familiar with all three of these life-altering events, I would have to say that, by far, the most stressful of the three is definitely moving.  In the days before my daughter came along, I found myself without a stable living environment for quite some time, moving around like a vagabond.  Each time, it was so stressful and hard to deal with on any organized level.  I definitely could have used some professional help in that area.

Today I came across a site that has exactly what you need to make "the big day" go much more smoothly.

Of course, there are three main ways to move.  One can do-it-yourself move, by hiring a van and doing all the gruntwork on one's own.  For a less involved amount of belongings, this is a good, inexpensive way to relocate.  If, however, moving heavy furniture is not an option, one can always hire a man and van combo.  Of course, this service is exactly what it says: a man, with a van.  There are some quiestions you should be prepared to ask, such as how big the van is and is the man capable of lifting your heaviest furniture.  There are even free removal quotes available online for the man and van service.  In order to get one the correct  quote, there are a few simple questions to fill out, and one can receive a quote in no time.

If one finds him or herself in need of a more comprehensive moving situation, there are many removal companies that will assist one on the big day.  There are several services that a professional moving company can handle for the overwhelmed mover, such as packing, specific moving requirements for specialty items, licensed and insured workers and more. Again, there are free online removal quotes and the simple questionaire to assist one in getting the correct quote for his/her needs.

There are also tools available for a person getting ready to relocate, such as a move planner, which is a calendar application that one can personalize to show the tasks to be completed and the deadlines for them.  Another great tool is the moving checklist. which starts from 6-8 weeks prior to the Big Day and continues through Moving Day and the first day in your new home.

Fixing Speed Dial in Opera 11.10

In case this doesn't get fixed in the final version of Opera 11.10, here is the fix for the giant speed dial boxes that scroll, thereby defeating the purpose of speed dial in the first place.  In the address box type the following with no spaces  about:config  Then, in the search box, type speed dial, which will bring up the speed dial config section under user prefs box, there are some options: number of columns, speed dial file, state, etc.  Under speed dial zoom level, lower the amount from 100% to about 70%.  This will make it look about like before.  Enjoy!

Writer's Block and a Deadline

Everyone has something they are good at; I'm a writer.  I have been hired as a freelance writer on multiple occasions, to the benefit of both parties.  I have written many different types of custom writing for various clients, depending on their needs and my knowledge of the subject they need written about.  Sometimes, though, after a long while of not doing much on the writing front, my skills can get somewhat rusty.  Enter every writers nightmare: writer's block.  Sometimes inspiration can be difficult to come by so it's necessary to have several sources at hand to give a boost when needed.  If ever I get stuck on a particularly technical piece or with a subject I know little about, I can always get a professional to write my essay .  I can always turn to writers with advanced postgraduate degrees and professional business experience to help me get a paper that I can use as a source for my work.  It's nice to know that I don't have to worry abo...

Photobucket Sucks

This is going to be a 'Douche of the Day' award post that I usually do on my Wordpress blog . I was a happy Photobucket user for 11 years.  That's a long time to stick with a service so they were obviously a good one.  I was completely happy with the services provided on my free account and a couple of times, I made use of the print store in order to make custom gifts for loved ones for various occasions. Then all of a sudden, in 2017, they start sending me nagware. For those unfamiliar, nagware consists of popups/emails/messages etc that 'nag' you to buy their product. It's irritating, true, but not a deal breaker since I had a free account.  I just unsubscribed to the nagmails and just put up with it on the site. Then, however, Photobucket decided to do something I consider to be truly despicable. They made it to where you CANNOT download your photo albums (for backup or for account changes).  They actually REMOVED the download album links.  Why is that p...
